DESCRIPTION:\"The original Chet Atkins Fan Club was started around 195
 1 by Margaret Fields. The group functioned from 1951 through 1962. Fro
 m 1962 until 1983, Chet fanbase around the world continued to grow, bu
 t there was no fan club in existence. In 1983, Jim Ferron, along with 
 Mark Pritcher, started a new society with a slightly different focus. 
 Instead of a traditional fan club, they envisioned a society who would
  honor its hero, but would equally focus on the musical legacy and mul
 ti-faceted career of a unique musical genius. They formed the Chet Atk
 ins Appreciation Society for those with a sincere interest and appreci
 ation of Chet’s music.\n\nThrough 2000, Chet himself participated in
  the annual conventions, and his presence was warmly appreciated by th
 e members. Since his passing, we continue to preserve his legacy, and 
 encourage young and old alike to keep his music alive and appreciate t
 he many contributions he made to the guitar and the music of America. 
 The current president of CAAS is Dr. Mark Pritcher, who along with wif
 e, Carol Pritcher, and an able staff of dedicated volunteers, keep it 
 running and growing. There are currently over 1000 members. Each summe
 r, the CAAS welcomes over 1200 people from all over the world to its a
 nnual convention held at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville.\"
