3hr Funky Fingerstyle Guitar Workshop for people with a solid guitar background and first fingerstyle experiences as well as intermediate fingerstyle guitarists. Contents will be checking the basics, learning traditional right hand techniques such as rhythm patterns and rolls and how to manipulate them to use them in a sort of "outside-the-box" way, especially with rolls, double and cross picking. This leads to the specific rhythmic and percussive approach of fingerstyle guitar people like Jerry Reed and Buster B. Jones were known for. The left hand will be addressed primarily by learning the "CAGED" system. A method of taking five (C, A, G, E, D) basic first position (open) chord forms and using a barré to shift those forms around the entire neck. The basic idea is to be able to navigate the entire neck, playing a variety of chord qualities and voices with only needing to initially know a minimum number of chord forms. This method can be valuable for accompaniment and soloing. Due to a limited number of participants, please register for this workshop in advance at the venue.
